The True Power Of Music

By Meghan: Whatever we listen to, we entrain with. The music that we feed our ears with, intertwines with our energy field. It affects us on all levels. Mentally, through encouraging certain thought patterns. Emotionally, through eliciting certain feelings. Physically, through creating a field of vibration. And spiritually, through shifting our resonance. Music is an extremely powerful tool, which can both assist and hinder.

We can listen to music that heals us and raises our frequency to higher levels. We can listen to music that brings us into positive states of consciousness, lucid dreaming, or astral projection. We can listen to music that invokes the elements (earth, air, fire, water), or has specific imprints we wish to utilize. Music can be used to activate and motivate. It can facilitate the releasing of emotions. In a group setting, music can be used to band together (pun intended) and unite people.

Music can be used during study sessions to enhance concentration. Music can be used to explore and dive into other cultures. It can be used as a form of education. We can use music to link us to different parts of ourselves, aspects, and archetypes. We can make our own music, thereby expressing our own unique sound signature. Music can be used to transmit and spread messages. So let’s pause there for a moment.

If music can spread messages, what kind of messages are being created? When we look at mainstream and popular music, we see certain messages being spread like viruses. This kind of music is what a majority of people are listening to now, so it’s crucial to take and honest look at what this music is doing and the beliefs that it is enforcing. This mainstream sound utilization is, at the moment, not being used to heal or bring peace. It’s not inspiring people to grow and reach their full potential. From what I have heard, most popular lyrical music contains extremely damaging messages, especially for younger people who are more prone to absorption. Or for those who are more sensitive (remember that sensitivity is an amazing thing). If you aren’t listening with awareness and intention, it’s so easy to fall into manipulation and adopt these messages into your own belief system. Sometimes these messages are not easy to spot at first. They can be subliminal and subtle. I invite you to listen to a couple popular songs that contain lyrics, and while doing so pay very close attention to the message. Is it spreading negative beliefs? Does it encourage unhealthy patterns? Does it romanticize violence or drugs? Does it encourage laziness or irresponsibility? Words are magic, and so is music. Putting them together can weave a powerful spell. It’s up to you what you will allow yourself to be influenced by. Like all other openings on the body, the ears are portals. Portals to the inner realms and a direct route to the subconscious mind.

To come into our full potential and to cultivate a better life, it’s a good idea to start listening to music that impacts us positively and fuels healthy, constructive self-talk. Like I said earlier, music has a very strong impact on our energy. Energetically, it has the capacity to remove blockages or to create them, to raise or lower our vibration.

And it’s not only the lyrics that impact us when we listen to music. The instruments and raw sounds also play an important part in this. Certain keys and strings help to align certain centers and chakras. There are frequencies you can listen to that are meant to heal, harmonize and cleanse (432hz, 369 hz, 639hz, 741hz, and more). The healers and shamans of ancient and indigenous cultures knew that music held tremendous power, and would use this power to benefit humanity. Of course, I have my own music preferences as does everyone else. Not all sounds are meant to harmonize with us. Keep in mind though that everyone is different. Everyone has different tastes, as well as different levels of sensitivity. It’s important to honor these differences, while also honoring yourself by choosing what resonates the most with you. Go with what makes you feel the most clear, powered up, and inspired. Remember that sound is powerful. Music is magic. It’s important to listen consciously and with awareness.
