The Roles We Play

By Roy: Time is of the essence, So who do we think we are in this version of our world? What and who would we like to be? We spend our whole lives chasing dreams that we are never likely to achieve because we don’t sit down and listen to ourselves and what our true dreams really are. We more often than not chase an illusion of a dream and then we make ourselves disappointed because we didn’t achieve what we set out to do.

So how can we find out what our real dreams are? Meditating is one way, finding quiet space and asking ourselves what our dream is, and most importantly giving ourselves time to answer. The first thing that pops into our heads is most likely ego, the part of ourselves that chases the illusion, the Icarus within that inevitably melts the wings. The real answer will come when our mind is quiet, and it will ‘feel’ true. Then, once you have the answer you have a final destination that you can genuinely start working towards knowing that it is real.

Step 1

Meditate for at least 15 minutes. You only need some soft non lyrical music in the background, a tea light candle, and some incense of your choice to put yourself in the right frame of mind to relax enough to get in touch with your higher self.

As you relax, ask yourself what your true dream for this life is, and as you relax let the mind quieten down and the answer will pop into your mind seemingly out of nowhere, it may only be a couple of words as the truth is always a simple fact.

Write it down and do nothing with it for a week or so, let the energy of it settle into your life, and possibly further information surrounding those few words might drop into your mind.

The dreaded delay tactics where we’ll do anything else, like watching TV or playing games on our phones, instead of getting that essential task done that gets us to our dreams. We will often just sit there in silence wondering what the hell to do, as though we are hypnotized into a static display. This is kind of the opposite space to a meditative state. Whereas the meditative space is one of flow, the procrastinating space is one of stagnation. So how do we get ourselves out of this? Start small, do something you enjoy that gets you out and about and into a semi flow state such as going for a walk along the beach if you live near enough, or along a river bank, essentially any place where there is a natural flow. It is kind of a subliminal trick for the mind that the flow state is enjoyable and easy to achieve.

When the road seems tough

This is just a sign of resistance, of your ego trying to control what is meant to be with ‘what I want it to be’. The path is the path sometimes, and the only option is to walk it. Then as you walk it, find the joy as there will be plenty of it, and trust if you get lost that it won’t be for long, and before you know it you’ll be back on your path knowing where you are and where it is you are heading.
