By Audrey: As October comes to a close, we think more about our loved ones who have passed and also of our own mortality. Every living being in the universe is made of the same spark, many believe this spark is a kind of stardust floating along waiting to take a living, vibrant form. That electricity that we feel when we receive physical touch from a loved one, we trust, or the comfort from a good friend when we are in times of stress or worry. This is one stardust recognizing another and feeling the cosmic connection they once shared during their inception. When we lose someone, we ask many questions, the big one is “What happens when we die?”.
I would like to present a glass half full theory to you, our essence or stardust never truly dies. We simply move to an in-between state of rest. Whether you believe in angels in heaven, spirit guides sent from your ancestors or a vast scientific ether, you are not wrong. This simply is your own special connection to what’s often referred to as the beyond.
Many of us have lost loved ones and feel alone without their presence every day, its best to focus on the happy memories when thinking about them, this is a way of keeping them around you this way you have not lost them, they just simply skipped ahead of you and are waiting for your stardust to transition to rest and join them in beyond. Another question we ask ourselves is “what do I do if I feel a presence in my home?” first you must ask yourself how you feel when this presence is around, if you feel warm and comforted this is a positive presence, coming by to check in on you. This type of phenomenon will be happening more and more this month, as well as November and December. The veil between our living world and the beyond where those that have passed take rest, becomes thinner in October and through the holidays, we often feel loss more profoundly. At this time, we have a unique opportunity to shine a light to pierce through the veil to let our loved ones know we need their support. They miss us just as much as we miss them, so you should celebrate with them and thank them for all the love and happy memories they created in life with you, raise a glass in reverence with others who knew them in life.
There is an old pagan tradition in which we present the dead with a platter of food and a goblet of mead while we feast in their honor and ask them to join us for one more meal. Showing respect for the dead and acknowledging them once a year lets them know they are remembered and very much still loved amongst their living friends and relatives. October isn’t just a time to dress up and eat candy with our friends, it is the perfect time to connect, not only with human loved ones who have passed but animal soul mates in the beyond as well. If you start to hear little feet scurrying in your kitchen this month don’t be alarmed, it may be a childhood pet coming to you for a visit and looking around the floor for a treat, our animal friends are always ready for a treat or two even in the afterlife.
However, when we feel this presence is negative or sometimes hostile, the room can become cold and the hair will stand up on the back of your neck. The first step to take in this situation is firmly ask the presence to leave your home and never return, this was once a person in life and appealing to their human side with respect is not only an act of bravery that can help you feel calm, it offers compassion and shows human common decency, just because they don’t have a corporal form doesn’t mean they don’t still have feelings. If this negative presence does not leave and there are more occurrences seeking spiritual assistance immediately, this is a job for a professional. Contact a respected spiritualist in your community, someone who you trust and believe in their spiritual gifts, and practices, if you want a peaceful home once again.
Remembering the special bonds established with others in your life is so very important. Even when that bond feels broken by death, it is never truly gone. Being happy and living a fulfilling life, is one way of honoring our precious ones in the beyond. They can look in on us and know that we are on the right life path, this keeps the bond strong through action as well as remembrance. So, when you feel a positive presence in your home, speak to them, they love you and are still around you every day and want to know you are doing well. Send cheers to the glorious dead may they live on in memory for all eternity until all of our stardust is reunited in the beyond once again.
Love and Light,
