Letting Go To Spring Forward

By Audrey: With spring’s arrival in the Northern Hemisphere it is time to blossom into a new chapter of life. It has been a long and sometimes confusing couple of years for everyone around the world. Many of us have been feeling stuck and frustrated with all the recurring challenges we face everyday, for example career setbacks or a miscommunication with our partner. One sure fire way to prepare for life’s new chapter is by letting go.

You can begin to break the cycle you’ve been stuck in that’s so painful and oftentimes crippling to our present and future possibilities. Specifically by letting go of the past and clearing out the cobwebs stored in our soul, we can allow ourselves to create positive energy and joy in our lives. Only when we’ve begun to choose ourselves can we be free of the past’s crushing weight that we carry on our shoulders every day. It is very hard to let go of the past, we make a protective wall around ourselves with our past experiences. This makes the past seem useful and essential to our emotional survival, and the key component to the excuses we tell ourselves when we break the promises we hope to keep to our inner consciousness. The big question here is “Why do we keep revisiting the past?”

There are many reasons why we revisit and hold on to the past, one of which is comfort. The past is the familiar and what is familiar is comfortable, warm and safe. It is our natural instinct to seek safety, emotional and physical safety, especially when we’ve experienced deep trauma in our lives. Our minds use the past and its exaggerated significance to wrap us up in a warm cocoon to enter when feeling triggered in the present tense. Another reason we hold onto the past is fear, the fear of the unknown. When we think back on the past, we always view it as the best, with a rosy film shrouding the unpleasant details our mind chooses to erase for our own protection. Holding onto old memories of past loves or happy times can be a source of peace, but when it starts to hinder our current progress and spills over into our present it starts to influence our future. This is when the past becomes an obstacle in our path to happiness. One other way we hold onto the past is by running away from it.

We feel if we just keep busy and distract ourselves from the pain associated with the past that one day it will dissipate. This is simply not true, creating a life where we are constantly on the run not only exhausts us emotionally, but it creates more damage in the long term. Undealt with past trauma manifests itself in many ways, self sabotage like behavior, depression, explosive anger and even self harm. Facing the past with a licensed mental health care professional can help identify, process and begin to let go. This is the best way to stop running and refocus our energy on the larger picture, our future. This is how we let go and begin to spring forward. Once you feel at peace with the past and no longer need to revisit it, creating a plan for your present and future is the most effective first step to spring forward. Creating a plan starts with asking the right questions, “What can I do to create joy in my life everyday?” “How do I ask for support from my loved ones on this new journey?” “What goals do I want to accomplish by the end of this year?”. Putting pen to paper with these questions in mind is a fast track to manifestation, this starts the ripples of change that spread out into the universe. When answering these questions to ourselves, it is crucial we are specific and intentional with what we want to achieve. Becoming very firm with ourselves helps with accountability as well as guides our will power to drive us down the road of success.

Thus, we experience a sudden spring forward in our world. There is no easy way to spring forward; it will take hard work, presence of mind and discipline. Focusing on the day to day steps we take to move forward with our new plan is the best way to avoid feeling overwhelmed with this process. Hanging our goal list up in a place in our home, we will stare at on a daily basis is a key move to support the day to day steps of springing forward. This is a method of reiteration, our subconscious recognizes this list and creates a reminder in our minds to focus on these goals at all times.

There will be subtle changes in your life at first. You will start to notice these changes once you’ve chosen yourself and have once and for all become free of the past. These changes will all be positive, for example you will start to feel less anxiety and a sense of real inner peace. Those around you will notice a change in the way you carry yourself as well and will want to know what your secret is. Sharing this knowledge with the ones you care about is your way of paying it forward, this is greatly encouraged. It’s a way to get bonus points on your karmic game! It’s a gift to help others on their path to peace and happiness. The journey is the best part of living, and letting go of the past allows us to enjoy every moment of the journey. This is the ultimate way of living our best life, no regrets or nagging triggers from the past holding us back. This is the process, you let go when you make the conscious decision to address the past in the present for the purpose of a glorious future. After you begin this process and really do the work you will awaken one day living in your dream life. Everything and everyone in your life will support your joy, so long as you choose yourself and follow these steps of letting go to spring forward.
