By Brett: St. Valentine was a clergyman back in the Roman empire of the third century whose ministry stretched to those Christians who were being persecuted. It’s amazing that Valentinus was placed under house arrest by Judge Asterius due to Valentinus discussing the validity of Jesus and the christian faith. Judge Asterius asked Valentinus to restore his daughter’s eyesight as she was blind and couldn’t see. The Judge also told Valentinus that if he could heal his daughter’s eye site he would be forever grateful and give Valentinus anything he wanted.
So Valentinus accepted Judge Asterius’s request and laid his hands over the Judges Daughter’s eyes. Valentinus asked God to send her healing and prayed for her eye site to be restored. It is said that Valentinus was successful at healing the her eyesight and that in return, all Valentinus instructed the Judge was to break all the false idols around his home and fast for three days. The Judge did this and after the fasting, as a result, the Judge released and freed christian inmates that were being persecuted because of their faith. Valentinus is remembered for the expression of freedom and love. Most early churches recognized St. Valentine on 14th February as that was the day Valentinus sent the Judge’s Daughter a letter signed “From your Valentine.”
In this story, we can see that from persecution, resentment, hurt and healing that the expression of faith and love is the absolute power we must all strive to connect with. It is easy for some of us on Valentines Day to become bitter, especially if we are just overcoming a past relationship or maybe we are earning for a relationship and you have been single for some time. It is easy to become resentful and bitter on this day for some. However, we must remember that Valentinus expressed great faith and love to all, even those who hated him. We must release all negative vibrations associated with love and allow love to flow equally and freely in and out of our lives by not persecuting others who have found love, however, by understanding that love starts within and starts with loving you. So if you are single or you are still healing from a past relationship, please take the time out on the 14th of February to self-heal and do something magical for yourself. Treat yourself to something you wouldn’t normally do and maintain your faith that love is near and that everyone finds and is deserving of love. Even writing yourself a Valentine Letter out of self-love to remind yourself of all those loving qualities you have and placing positive intention behind your words as you write and become fully aware that Love is something you can have and will have as you experience the greatest love of all and that’s loving yourself first.
For those who are married, partnered and or in new relationships it is easy also to hold onto negative patterns in relationships and for most of us, we are always requiring more from our partners whether that is emotional or physical. We must remember that Valentines Day is about not judging the other and releasing any negative patterns that you may have. Quiet your mind and just listen to your inner awareness and know the gentle reassurance that the Creator has created you to share your life and experiences together. Look past the seeming errors, mistakes and misunderstanding and know that life has you together at this point to enhance your soul’s journey and to become more. You focus upon the love that first initiated you both in bringing you closer together. Allow healing, love and light into your relationship and place that positive intention out there that you and your significant other have a right to celebrate such a special day as Valentine’s Day.
I believe love is very important for our human existence and love is not only associated with relationships, however also health and wellness. The Year 2020 brings us all the energy of Love and please when it arrives, grab it with open arms and embrace the energy that is given. The energy of Love is in us all and can be expressed by the stranger on the street who gives us an attentive smile or the friend who puts their hand on your shoulders and asks if you are okay? Love will come in and out in 2020 and it is our conscious decision to embrace the love that has been given and started with St Valentine.
