10 Self-Love Practices

By Aquila: Here are 10 Self-Love Practices to Attract Love Into Your Life and/or Feel More Love in Your Current Relationships.

Self-love is an essential element in any relationship. It is the foundation of the connection between two people. Without it, a relationship can easily become unhealthy, unfulfilling, and manipulative. In order to have a healthy, successful relationship, self-love is necessary. Understanding self-love and its importance can help couples navigate their relationship in a healthy and productive way. It can help them establish trust, communication, and mutual respect. Self-love can also provide each person with the foundation to take responsibility for their own feelings and actions. It is essential for creating long-lasting, meaningful relationships that are full of love, trust, and understanding.

Have you ever been told you just need to love yourself, but then thought to yourself? Yes, I know I need more self-love but I just don’t know where to start. If that’s the case this one’s for you!

1. Create a self-love mantra: Choose a phrase or sentence that resonates with you, and repeat it to yourself whenever you need a boost, or record yourself saying them and play it on repeat as you fall asleep so it seeps into your unconscious mind to reprogram your beliefs. Here are some to get you started.

● I am worthy of love and acceptance.
● I am enough.
● I am strong and capable.
● I am worthy of respect.
● I am allowed to make mistakes.
● I have the power to create my own happiness.

2. Spend time in nature: Connecting with the natural world can help you tune into your true self and boost your sense of self-love. Spending time in nature can increase self-love by helping to reduce stress, nurture a sense of calm, and promote mindfulness. Nature can provide a sense of connection and appreciation for the beauty and complexity of the world. Taking time to appreciate nature can help you to appreciate your own beauty and complexity, which can lead to increased self-love. Additionally, being in nature can help to provide perspective, helping you to gain clarity on your values and priorities, which can lead to a greater sense of self-acceptance and self-love. Here are a couple of methods that you might like to try out.

● Take a walk in nature: During your walk, consciously choose to focus on gratitude and loving yourself. As you observe the beauty of nature, look for beauty within yourself.

● Journal in nature: Find a comfortable spot in nature and write down a list of all the things you appreciate and love about yourself. Allow yourself to be honest and to really feel the love you have for yourself.

3. Practice yoga and meditation: Both yoga and meditation can help you to become more aware of your body and mind, and to accept them as they are. Practicing yoga and meditation can increase self-love by helping us to connect to our inner selves and to gain a deeper understanding of who we are. As we become more aware of our inner selves, we can learn to accept and appreciate our unique qualities and imperfections, and to be more compassionate towards ourselves.

● One meditation to practice self-love is the loving-kindness meditation. This meditation involves repeating phrases of loving kindness and compassion towards ourselves and others, such as “May I be happy, may I be free from suffering”. Through this practice, we can cultivate an attitude of self-love and compassion. ( for more in-depth information on this meditation refer back to my article Titled: Being Your Eternal Self Through Love and Compassion.

● One yoga pose that can be used to practice self-love is the Anahata (Heart) Pose. Anahata is a gentle back-bend that opens the chest and encourages deep breathing. It is a great pose to deepen the connection with the heart and to promote feelings of self-love and self-care. To practice this pose, start by lying on your back with your knees bent and your feet flat on the floor. Place your hands on your chest with your fingers interlaced and your palms facing upward. On an inhale, lift your chest and your heart forward, sending the breath down into your heart. Hold the pose for several breaths, allowing yourself to feel the love and support of your own heart. Exhale to release the pose.

4. Keep a self-care journal: Writing down your thoughts and feelings can help you to gain perspective and to become more self-aware. Additionally, it can help to give you a sense of self-compassion, as it allows you to reflect on yourself and your experiences without judgment. This can be especially helpful if you find yourself overwhelmed or struggling with feelings of self-doubt. By taking the time to write down your thoughts, you can gain insight into how you’re feeling, what might be causing it, and how to better care for yourself.

● One method for keeping a journal to help with self-care and self-love is to record your thoughts, reflections, and emotions in a journal as soon as you wake up. I like to do it while I am having my morning coffee or in nature as mentioned above. Writing your thoughts down can help to clarify and articulate them, giving you a better understanding of yourself and your emotions.

5. Give yourself a break from technology: Taking a break from technology can help you to focus on yourself and your own needs. Giving yourself a break from technology can help with self-love by providing time to focus on yourself and your own needs. Taking a break from technology can help to reduce stress and anxiety, while also giving you the opportunity to connect with yourself and the world around you. It can help to improve focus and productivity and to help you to appreciate the present moment. Taking a break from technology can also provide a much-needed distraction from the everyday stresses of life and help you to take a step back and gain perspective on your life. Finally, it can help to increase self-awareness and self-acceptance, which can in turn lead to increased self-love. Schedule this into your day, start small and increase. You may start with 2 hours a day and increase it to several hours.

6. Exercise regularly: Regular exercise can help to boost your self-esteem and give you a sense of accomplishment.

7. Spend time with people who love you: Surrounding yourself with people who love and support you can help to increase your self-love.

8. Practice self-compassion: Remind yourself that you are worthy of love and acceptance, and be kind to yourself.

9. Develop a self-care routine: Taking time each day to dedicate to yourself and your own needs can help to increase your self-love. Here are some things you might want to add to your self-care routine:

10 Establish a morning ritual: A simple morning ritual can set the tone for the day and help you focus on what’s important. This can include things like meditating, journaling, stretching, or going for a walk.

Nourish your body: Take the time to eat healthy, nutritious meals. Make sure to get enough sleep and exercise regularly.

• Practice mindfulness: Take time to be mindful and present at the moment. Pay attention to your thoughts and feelings and work to accept them without judgment.

• Take breaks: Give yourself permission to step away from the demands of your day. Take a break and do something that brings you joy.
Show yourself compassion: Speak kindly to yourself and be patient and understanding of your own shortcomings. Acknowledge your strengths and successes. When you find yourself saying something negative to yourself, simply say “Cancel” and replace that thought or statement with a positive statement.

• Make time for yourself: Schedule time for yourself to do activities that help you relax and unwind. This could be reading, listening to music, or engaging in a creative activity.
