By Destiny: In this article, I am going to take you on a journey through meditation. The art of meditation should never be underestimated as it is fundamental to your spiritual well-being. I know some people struggle with meditation and it can take some practice.
There are so many benefits of meditation and it can sharpen your senses and psychic ability. You can even try healing certain parts of the body through meditation. You can handle stressful situations better and create your inner sanctuary. This is a place that you go to within the meditation that brings you great happiness.
I will share with you my experience of meditation and how I learned to get into meditation comfortably. I first learned how to do meditation when I joined a Yoga group, we would finish up with a relaxation technique. We were laying on our yoga mats and the teacher would talk us through the process. You can practice simple techniques before you actually get into a full on meditation session. You can be sitting in a chair or lying in bed and even in the bath. You need to be totally focused on your body and how it is feeling. Do not do a full on meditation in the bath.
Focus your mind on your big toe, wiggle it about then relax it and then do the same with the other toes. You can then become aware of your foot and tighten it and then release. You will notice a big difference in how relaxed you become as you do this exercise. You go through the same with your legs and arms and so on and then you know how to relax and let go of tension. Once you have mastered that skill you can then concentrate on the mind.
You could close your eyes and focus within and so you need a quiet mind. If you find your thoughts wandering, then bring yourself back to no thoughts. This will take some practice you can create an image in your mind such as a heart and just focus on that. You will find that eventually, you are able to remove clutter from your mind and completely relax. You are now ready for a full-on meditation and don’t worry if you fall asleep. You will eventually be able to do this without falling asleep.
Once you decide you want to do a full-on meditation, it is important that you prepare yourself and your environment. You need to be warm and not disturbed and perhaps with a dimmed lighting or candles. This is your time and so 30 to 60 minutes can be very beneficial to you. You may find that certain music can help you with your meditation session. You can even get guided meditation on a CD or download it. I find the harp very relaxing for me and there are some music CD’s that are specific for meditation.
I like to light a joss stick or burn some essential oils as the aroma helps me to relax. I take myself off on holiday through my meditation and the place I created is my inner sanctuary. I imagine the sea in front of me and that I am laying on the beach. I am looking up at the pale blue sky and receiving healing from the sun.
In fact, an hour of good meditation can be a refreshing as a good night sleep. You will feel all the better for it and so it is worth investing the time and energy into meditation. You cannot rush the process everyone is different and will find their own way of doing this.
I would be interested in hearing from you how you get on with meditation. It is an act of solitude, however, you may find you have certain experiences that you need to share. If you need further guidance in this area then please contact me. I can do a specific reading on meditation and guide you to what you need to do next.
Love and Light,
Destiny
