By Barbara:<\/strong><\/a><\/em><\/span><\/span> You\u2019ve probably heard of affirmations, those statements of intent and desire that end up taped to mirrors and fridge doors, and robotically repeated until hopefully the subconcious gets the manifesting message (and it seems sometimes it does, but sometimes it doesn\u2019t). <\/p>\n

Well afformations, also known as askformations, are affirmations that are formed into a question. For example rather than \u2018I attract love into my life with ease\u2019, it\u2019s \u2018why am I attracting love into my life with ease now?\u2019<\/p>\n

What does it matter whether it\u2019s a statement or question though? Well, it\u2019s all to do with how our brains work, how the subconcious mind responds better to questions, and more easily overcomes a problem (question) by automatically seeking the solution (answer). Think of the brain as being like the search engine and the universe as being like the internet and manifesting as being like the search results. When you know the right question, you get the right answer.<\/p>\n

It’s also about how our minds tend to look for evidence of our beliefs being true, be it positively or negatively, and explains why the universe responds to our frustrated cry of \u2018why can\u2019t I do this?\u2019 with a big list of evidence why (which we call blocks or obstacles). <\/p>\n

And just as it works for negative or unwanted beliefs, it works the same for the positive ones. Ask and it is given. The universe starts to throws out reasons why we CAN do something, in the form of opportunities, ideas, better mindset, helpful people, etc.<\/p>\n

The afformation technique was devised by Noah St John some years back and is recently enjoying a much-deserved revival, and I can say it\u2019s one of the few manifesting techniques that really works for me. <\/p>\n

So how to get going with your own afformations? <\/p>\n

How I use this technique is to choose a few negative or limiting beliefs, even some real juicy ones that have been an issue for a while, say up to 3 or 5. Things like:<\/p>\n

1\tThings never work out for me
\n2\tNo matter what I do I can never get ahead with money
\n3\tWhy are relationships such hard work? <\/p>\n

You can get as specific as you like on this too, it doesn\u2019t have to be so general. Then turn the negative into a positive question that assumes it\u2019s \u2018here and now\u2019 in your reality, like this\u2026 <\/p>\n

1\tWhy are things always working out for me?
\n2\tWhy am I always getting ahead with money now?
\n3\tWhy are relationships getting easier and easier now? <\/p>\n

Seem too simple to be effective? Try it and see! It\u2019s persistence and discipline that is the hard bit, not the question itself, so keep repeating them, write them down, contemplate them, speak them, record your voice and replay them. Also see where your mind goes as a result of this process as it should put you in a more positive feeling, open minded, expansive state as your brain starts to ask, \u2018well why indeed?\u2019 and starts to seek its evidence. At the beginning you likely won\u2019t see a lot happening, but if you persist it doesn\u2019t take long before the universe gets a hold of all this and starts reflecting and manifesting some evidence as to why this is true for you.<\/p>\n

You might start to be called to new behaviour too, or actions or impulses that support your afformations, but don\u2019t think that you are doing all the work on your own as the universe does the heavy lifting if you let it, if you expect it. Your job is to simply persist in the new belief held in the afformation. The universe\u2019s job is to sort everything else out.<\/p>\n

Hopefully in just 3 days you might see a little something blossoming or something to take notice of. But after 30 days or a couple of months, there should be something solid manifesting, real evidence settled in of the change in your belief.<\/p>\n
